Machine Control

More and more projects are now relying on machine control or machine guidance for their earthworks operations.  The advantages are clear to those who have used it, as it cuts down on labour intensive routine for controlling the works and cutting down on the labour/plant interface.

Effective machine control starts with understanding what the job entails and setting suitable control points throughout the site to control the works either with GPS or Total Station Systems.  The information for the machines should also be processed so that it is clear for the machine operators to understand and use.

Once the work has been completed a survey of the work area should be done.  This would prove that the work has been done to the correct line and level and be a record for quality control.
